Public Aquariums

I was thinking about my aquarium bucket list and I only have 3 left on it to see.

Long Island aquarium
Monterey Bay aquarium
Waikiki Aquarium

I am willing to bet there are more out there worth seeing... What am I missing?

I have been to:
Georgia Aquarium
Tennessee Aquarium
Shedd Aquarium
Ripley's aquarium of Myrtle beach
Huston Downtown Aquarium
Sea World Orlando

I have an uncle who lives within walking distance of the Monterey Bay aquarium. I should probably go visit him.

Monterey is the bee's knees. Been years since I've been there, I can only imagine how much has probably been added to it.
Going to be vegetating on the West Shore of Oahu for a couple of weeks this fall.
Two of the must-do's on the very short list are Pearl Harbor and Waikiki Aquarium.

We did the Waikiki Aquarium Monday. Not the largest, but they sure pacjed a bunch in the space they have. Truly spectacular. Their Community Displays were unreal. The longer you looked, the more you saw they have an oitdoor tank, must be 25x10x3ft high, looked like you were snorkeling over the the nicest reefs in the world. And a display about coral farming, the importance of it, and how it is done.
A few pics

Love all the clams in those pictures
It was really cool. They were all lined up, open and looking- well, happy as clams.
It was another outdoor exhibit, as was their coral farming exhubit. Their acro colonies they were taking frags from were bigger than the size of footballs, and the frags were mini colonies. Lol
It seemed they use a lot of natural light, even for their indoor exhibits. I'm not sure if it's the natural light, or the fact that all the fish were fat and healthy, but all the fish glowed-super bright colors, and colors I haven't seen on them in tanks or stores at home. The ones I've seen when snorkeling are the same way, super bright and colorful.
All the pics were taken with my cell phone. and my phone is acting odd, i can only gind a handful of the pics i took at the aquarium, and I've lost entire folders of pics. it says something about my SD card being corrupt. Ill have to see if i can figure it out when we get back. I've been kicking myself since the minute we got here for not buying a quality DSLR before the trip. And for not getting a waterproof GoPro.

The ocean in front of the aquarium is a national sanctuary. I bet the bright color's have something to do with the massive water turn-over they get every week from the NOA water barge. They go out several miles and collect water from (I was told) 500 meters deep. If your a yearly member you can get a few hundred gallons a week from the back office.

Charleston, SC has a nice public aquarium, been there a few times. I've been to Monterey Bay as well, it was amazing!

if your ever in the area of Thayer Mo, or Mammoth AR stop and look at the Mammoth Springs fishery. Its 100% freshwater but the displays are very well done and great if you have kids. Snapping turtle tanks, trout tanks, breeding tanks and multiple larger (500g'ish) local area species only tanks. I think its a few bucks, but after the tour and a walk around the ice cold crystal clear springs and falls its money well spent. I recommend bringing a pole, shrimp and a trout stamped license to fish the falls with the family. The constant trout strikes with that crisp wind off the falls is a lot of family fun. I like fishing with a bobber with my feet in the water. Not reefy but fun and local.
