Pump choice and positioning questions.

Hi,
I'm setting up a 390 G tank (88"x34"x30")
With a rockstructure along following plans:

Already got a 6105 running on asingle cotroller.
Will switch to a multicontroller and wondering wether I should add 6205s or 6105s on this tank?
How would you position them for best flow on this tank?
Tank will be an SPS dominated mixed reef.
Thanks.

Not sure if those would be too strong for the tank? I think that stronger pumps would make they're positioning much more difficult to avoid blasting the nearby corals while trying to achive a good flow to the other side of the tank, and that more smaller pumps would be better in that aspect???
Appreciate any opinions on that too?

My opinion would be 4x 6205s. Possibly one on each side of the tank halfway back blowing across the tank. And the other two on the back wall say 10-20" off the corners angled toward the opposite side.

88" is a long way for a 6205 right. Thats 7' long, I would think that the 6305 would be a better suit. Especially being 34" wide. That is just my opinion, I am sure Shawn knows more than me though. Maybe Roger will chime in, I know he doesnt ever take any time off.

Demonic, you could be right. My thoughts were the 4 spread thru the tank and the return pump would cover all the footprint without anything getting blasted. I was thinking the 6205 was effective in a 3 x 6 area but I found where Roger says 3 x 5 and the 6305 in a 3 x 7. I still think the 4 6205s could be enough but we shall see what Roger's thoughts are as he would probably know better than anyone.

The 6305 actually has less force than the 6105. 6105 jet covers 7ft by 2ft, 6305 is about 6.5ft by 3ft. Since you have 2 6105, I would add 2 6305.

Thanks for all the replies.

Shawn,
i bleieve we met a while ago at Salty Critter (I'm the guy from Lebanon who came to pick up some corals very early morning before my flight back) Regards to You Dan and all the Staff and thanks for your advise and excellent service at your store.

Rvitko,
Are you sure the 6305 has less force than the 6105? Is it a wider stream then? I look at the flow I get from my 6105 on my current tank (150 G 60 inch long) and it can easily reach the other side of the tank at half it's power. compared to the MP40 I have on the same tank it's much more powerfull yet much narrower. I was wondering what a pump with 2-3 times the capacity would do on a tank only 28 inch longer. I only have one 6105 so far not 2.

The 6105 and 6305 are very close in how far the flow can reach, but 6305 is much, much wider, the force is about the same, 6305 is maybe a little weaker, but very, very close.

Maroun, yes that was me at least on one of the trips, though I missed you on your most recent one.

Roger, thanks for the info on the 6305s, I had always thought they were more forceful and afrair to recommend them.
