my pumping exnia is shrinking cant find answer why nitrate 0 nitrite 0 ph a bt hgh brought it down Calcum reacter with co2 needed ajustment wated and still not openng or growing
Xenia come from waters with a little higher nitrate and perhaps phosphate levels than most reef coral. So called dirty water they live in.
I noticed that my Xenia were very healthy until my nitrates dropped to zero. At that point they withered away. Perhaps elevating your nitrates at bit to 5-10 ppm will help. It is difficult to keep Xenia healthy in a sps tank, where you need very low phosphate and nitrate levels. They tend to wither away in sps tanks.
I moved some to a tank that is connected to my sump and has a Compact Fluorescent (Current USA Orbit) instead of halides like in the main tank and they started to shrink.
