purple BTA in the diver's den from LA?

I should be getting one or two tomorrow from a different vendor so I will post pics if they come in. Based on the last set of specimans that were listed yesterday I am really starting to agree that these are regular green BTA's with purple tips and not puple and white like they are being advertised. The green pigment may be a little lighter than than normal but that could be from stress and may darken up later on. The odd thing is if you look at the pic that was posted earlier by jaysreef you can clearly see regular colored tentacles mixed in with the lighter colored ones.

Just got mine. It has a very bright purple base and very white tips with purple dots at the tip of the tip.

My bag did have several little orange/yellow eggs in it that you can see inside the anemone in one of the above pics.

Very nice, either way if they are green or purple they are still some very cool looking anemones. KEEP THE PICTURES COMING and I will do the same.

That is one odd colored anemone but in a good way. Can't wait to get mine.

thanks for the daylight pic. it looks very nice. i suspect your bta should stay that color. i'm guessing lot's of actinic output will bring out a green sheen to the tentacles, still your specimen doesn't appear to have a mix of green and gray colored tentacles as some of the others posted.
if it's color remains the same i'd like a clone. it would look good under my more daylight spectrum t5 set up.

prices were increased to $150. got mine today! he's at home in a bucket of water till i get home to properly acclimate him.

Female anemones make eggs about the size of a small pinhead and the males make sperm that looks like smoke when it is released. In E. quadricolor the males and females do a coordinated spawning and the eggs are fertilized in the water column.

The pic of yours showed many eggs, so you can probably see them in the watter. Look for little orangey yellow spheres.

Are you thinking of trying to do something with the babies? I put mine in a bare nano and am probably going to keep the adult in a net box for a few days to get the others.

I noticed there are two more purple BTAs on the LA website tonight. I guess "rare" is a relative term.

They are nice.

I think someone has found a limited supply of these in the wild so I would expect to see a decent rush of these for the next few days and then they will more than likely stop coming in.

I have seen a purple bta at the lfs in san antonio long before this rave about the purple btas.. I thought the store owner was joking about that bta being a purple bta ...I said that doesn't look like a bta to me..He said he is really good at getting rare corals and inverts from his vender..I believe him, if only you guys could see his store. This bta had a bright purple foot green tentacles and dark purple tips. No white on it what so ever. He was selling it for $40, I wish I bought it, but I didn't. I guess the purple bta rave is over because there is still two on divers den and no one has bought them.

Actually all the purple BTAS look like purple base ritteri to me.

I remeber reading somewhere that Magnificas do bubble tip sometimes.

I was thinking the same thing especially from that nano-reef pic but I cannot make out any verrucae on the base.

The one I received is definately not a magnifica. Although magnificas can sometimes resemble BTAs and can display bubbled tips, these are BTAs.
