Purple Gig wont put its foot down ?

It went almost milky white , there is something definitely not right here , i have been using a 5 gallon tank and halving the 250 to 125mg , i pulled the trigger and removed it , its now back in the dt , it had let go and started really gaping , its mouth is now ,shut now its back in the dt . i dont have any other nems in the tank so i am not really to worried about that atm .

Any thought's why its going so cloudy ?

In all seriousness, all of this stress is likely not going to end well.
 
It was from an online pharmacy , i may go to the vets and get some from them if possible . There is something definitely not right with that cipro .

I can understand not wanting to get burned twice. Not saying what you're doing is wrong so please don't take it that way. I'm hoping it works out well for you.. Gigs are amazing animals.
 
They sure are , i really don't know where to go from here .

I really didn't want to risk coming down in the morning to the same dead nem .
 
that milky is likely stress induced spawn, i would just let it be for a couple more hours and change out that water and retreat the cipro. that way the water does not get polluted and raise the ammonia level. dont panic.

tomorrow you wake up and see the water very cloudy agaiin, perhaps change the water again but dont treat the cirpo until at night. that's what i would do.
 
next time get prepared ahead of time before you get the animal. 10gal tank, check. 7-10days supply of cipro, check. a working heater, check. a 30 gal barrow of freshly made saltwater for the water exchange with the DT, check.......etc..

when i get my nem ordered, the protocol is carried out smoothly.
 
One of my gigs stress spawned in a 5 gallon bucket and it looked like non-fat milk.

It could very well be the cause of the cloudiness -- good call on that one Pinkskunk!

Definitely do a large water change and cross your fingers. You'll know in the morning if all is well. Good luck.

I highly doubt it. They will most likely be haddoni. Not to say that this particular importer doesn't know what he's talking about, but a majority of the importers here in the US can't tell the difference between the two. Most wholesalers here simply list them as Stichodactyla spp. so they don't have to properly ID them. Furthermore, most divers at the collection site and exporters can't tell the difference either. They could've told the importer that they're gigantea when they're just haddoni.

I only know of one red anemone that appears to have qualities of a gigantea. I say that because there are doubts about what it is. I personally think, and choose to believe, that it is a gig. That said, I'm extremely doubtful that an importer would be able to obtain five of them.
 
Change DT to TT and back can't be good for the anemone. I also put new anemone in QT/TT. If he well then no treatment. If he looks poor, I would start on treatment right away. So far I have good success rate also. I cannot stress enough the need to keep temp and salinity stablility. I find that a good digital heather is really needed.
That green Gigantea seem to go from bad to worst. Good luck with him
 
Well i spoke to the supplier today who confirmed they are red Haddoni and Not what he first said which was Gigantea . I have been having trouble getting hold of some Cipro in the uk so have had to order some Fishflox from over the pond .

The green Gig absolutely stinks of rotten fish and has turned the tank cloudy , surely it cant decompose that quick ? is it even dead ? could it have already died in transit ? i looked at the excrement i removed and it was white syringy stuff i think it was mesenterial filimant tbh .

Maybe i was already on the back foot before i recieved it ?

I dont seem to be having much luck lately , i thought i had a good understanding of Gigs's but obviously something is going wrong here , whether i am receiving poor quality specimens or not i dont know . The first one was fine at the start but never really attached to anything properly so i reckon it was pedal lacerations , and this one hasnt even lasted 24hr
 
Tbh i have left it where it was and just done a water change and i can see some tenticles slightly moving ? Maybe i am just seeing things .
I thought it was dead so removed the egg crate and stupidly left the pump on and now its got slightly mangled , can healthy Gigs recover from this if its not on the foot ?
I hope i have better luck as the supplier was very apologetic and couldn't do enough to help , they have sent me a blue and purple as a replacement , i will receive them in the morning.

I am going out in the morning and buying a 40gal tank , egg crate, powerhead ,heater , Radion led , thermostat , ceramic rock ,auto top up , and a vat to hold saltwater .
As you have seen i already have a qt but its only 5 gallon and isnt really adequate for 2 .

I will set this up and put the new nems in straight away , i will give them a day or to to settle in unless i see anything that concerns me , i will then start treatment if i see anything , if not they will stay in there for 2 weeks until i am happy they are ok .

I hope they are healthy when they arrive here , i will upload some pictures when i get them .
