purple gorgonian trouble

What is the white stuff on this guy and what can I do for him. In one of the pictures the flesh seems to be falling off. Does he stand a chance. The light are 6 bulb T-5 and the flow is moderate. And to those that know him coldshot is home but has six weeks to be laid up in the bed. He said to tell everyone thanks for the help and those he owes he will make it right when he gets on his feet again.

this is a regular occurance with some species of gorgonian. nothing to worry about. Its shedding its outer skin. they do this to rid of any unwanted algae. They will often do this when introduced to a new system also.

Mine does it every so often. It's normal.
