deepwater zoanthid
Sadly anything with a green and purple color combo is always going to be hyped as a Purple Hornet morph. I have seen these deepwaters( they didn't surface till the deepwater fad hit a year ago or so) called Purple Hornet 2, Purple Hornets second generation, L.A. Lakers.
How do you tell if a zoa is deep water or not? Some one just decided to go on coral pedia and put a stamp on it as that specific name.:reading: if it wasn't that person, it would have been someone else with another different name and folks would place that polyp as that name. Too me It's a deepwater polyp plain and simple
This piece has been called purple hornets cousin, PH's 2nd coming, PH's II, PH next generation etc. etc. trying to put the purple hornet tab on it for hype. . There are a lot newer deepwater varieties coming in.
no because those specifically were imported as " japanese deepwater zoanthids ".
you can pretty much put them in any part of the tank. as long as they are acclimated to the lighting properly. I have some other deepwaters which someone else named tootiefruity? a 8-10" from the waters surface under 250mh and doing fine while I have 2 other frags of the same polyp all the way on the sand bed.
