Sadly anything with a green and purple color combo is always going to be hyped as a Purple Hornet morph. I have seen these deepwaters( they didn't surface till the deepwater fad hit a year ago or so) called Purple Hornet 2, Purple Hornets second generation, L.A. Lakers.

I wasn't trying to hype anything. I wanted an ID so I posted in the ID forum. It looked similar to the famous purple hornet but as I posted, I wasn't for sure. I had no idea of the LA Lakers Zoa but Im glad they were correctly identified. :celeb2:

How do you tell if a zoa is deep water or not? I'm not going to specifics but that deepwater morph has been around for sometime now, it's been named 100 different names by different stores, online vendors, ebay and by other sellers. Some one just decided to go on coral pedia and put a stamp on it as that specific name.:reading: if it wasn't that person, it would have been someone else with another different name and folks would place that polyp as that name. Too me It's a deepwater polyp plain and simple

This piece has been called purple hornets cousin, PH's 2nd coming, PH's II, PH next generation etc. etc. trying to put the purple hornet tab on it for hype. . There are a lot newer deepwater varieties coming in.

So to you every other zoanthid is a shallow water zoanthid, plain and simple right?

you can pretty much put them in any part of the tank. as long as they are acclimated to the lighting properly. I have some other deepwaters which someone else named tootiefruity? a 8-10" from the waters surface under 250mh and doing fine while I have 2 other frags of the same polyp all the way on the sand bed.

Ok thanks...i moved these guys down a little bit, but they are doing great

650, was just messing with you by the way. But yes, I agree with you. Anyone who knows anything about zoanthids knows these are "Japanese Deepwaters", As are many others. If I just said I have "Japanese deep waters for sale," who would know what I'm talking about for sure? I was letting him know the name 'given' to these. Most common name rather.

Oh and LMAO! @

"JUST BECAUSE THE POLYP HAS A RING ON IT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S A HORNET "

Hahaha
