Purple Limeade, Cranberries A. nasuta

jay, after doing some research on it. i concur with your thoughts.

if it really looks like that, it would be amazing. i also hope were proven wrong.

WOW...even if it wasn't that bright...as long as it was those colors, I think it would be nice. I love drooling over at RM...but have always thought the pix all looked enhansed...

That one looks amazing

I got a nice frag of A. nasuta from Fragfarmer

I haven't seen this much interest over a "retail" piece in a while. It will be interesting to see if the person that got it visits this site and comes forward. As far as touch up photos I've always been happy with my RM purchases, but this one puts them on the hot seat if the buyer posts.

never even saw that one on their site did they ever mark it as sold? was it wild or AC, looks like they had a black light over it.

I'm going to have to say heavy VHO's... that pinkish/purple hue might have been enhanced with photoshop. Either way that's one incredible piece!!

Well without ripping on the guy, he does state on his site that corals are kept under 20kK bulbs & Actinics, which yes enhances the color out of EVERYTHING, but he doesn't deceive by withholding that information.

As to the photoshopping, having taken a good handful of shots of my own tank, depending upon how much of a shutter pause you get, etc can very easily change the color something looks. But yeah that much blue tends to oversaturate the CCD, so might have some minor photoshopping.

Folks who think RM photos are "enhanced" should take a look at one of their corals under 20Ks first before even suggesting it. Take it from firsthand experience, what they put there is for real as they represent it.

I agree as well, look at the coraline in the background, its to saturated. I hope this looks like that in your tank, but I am somewhat afraid this will not be the case. A dead giveaway for any heavily shopped photo is the coraline coloration and this one is just to heavy.

Post a photo when you get it please. That is a sweet looking piece though!

Good luck.

I color corrected it as much as possible. Other than the saturation, the colors of the original photo are close to true. The purple in the background is most likely due to actinics. Anyway. Someone got an awesome coral!

Agreed, but boy this last pic is still sweet

If your looking at that coral from top under vho and 400w 20k's, I bet it looks pretty darn close to the picture. Freaking awesome acro.

I've bought 6 corals from RM, 3 colonies and 3 frags, and to be honest the only one that looked as nice as the photo on RM.com was a yellow milli. Not that I am unhappy with the RM at all, I will continue to buy from them-good prices and I love the free frags, shipping/packaging has always been very good- I just know that the corals don't look that nice in my tank (400w20k XM's and VHO atinic). RM takes great pictures, and they are all top down photo's, which can be misleading because a lot of the color on the coralites is only visible from the top down. Still that frag is very nice!

I have been very happy with all my purchases from RM. All of the 18 corals I have from them look very close to the pictures with plenty of actinic that i run on my tank.

They are a great company IME.

For the record, I wasn't in anyway bashing RM, I can just tell that they are over saturating their photos from their apperance. I have never seen coraline algae look as vibrant in photos' as theirs does. The only time I have seen that is from shopped photos that are over saturated. Just my opinion....

A piece of that came into the LFS that day, the guy who got it experienced some loss in colour of the polyps and says they've turned white now... did you experience that??

Am wondering if the polyps only displayed that purple polyps when it grows?
