Purple Limeade, Cranberries A. nasuta

A piece of that came into the LFS that day, the guy who got it experienced some loss in colour of the polyps and says they've turned white now... did you experience that??

Am wondering if the polyps only displayed that purple polyps when it grows?

No I've had mine for only 4 weeks or so now. But I think fragfarmer has had that coral for a long time.

Yea, I love that piece. I have thought of pulling the trigger and getting it but I also reeeeeeaaaaalllllly want his snowcone prostrata and it is never available. The frag of the blue dazzler looks somewhat similar to the a. nausta from RM but the colony is definately different looking...the cranberry color is super sweet on the RM piece.

oh ya no doubt its a great piece, and under 20ks it will almost glow from a top down shot....i use 20ks and the color does pop alot more looks really luminecent sometimes.

Either way that's nice.

I saw this "retail piece" at Dr. Mac's site today. Real nice also. IMO

LOL, you're killing me Ken.

Hi All,

What a discussion about a frag that I thought was cool but not THAT COOL. :) It is a beautiful piece and I have been growing this particular frag out for over 6 months. I have taken a few frags off of it over the past few months but they haven't "matured" to the point of gaining those reddish corallites.

Two things to consider about our corals and how we represent them. First is that we prepare our photos on a CRT monitor and not a Lap Top or a LCD. We do this for two reasons, first is that a CRT lmonitor looks the same no matter what angle you are viewing the coral at, and because they have an average brightness/contrast output range the photos look reasonable on most monitors. But.... with these new and incredible CRT monitors coming out I am seeing problems with our photos. They look nuked, like we own stock in Photoshop! I am thinking that I have to remove saturation rather than leaving at zero in Photoshop. I just purchased a Samsung 931B and it is insane. I turned down the brightness and contrast by 30 percent because my website looked like a cartoon.

SO... What do you all think about me taking a poll and seeing how many folks use the new high contrast (like over 1:700 ratio) LCD's. This would help me out plus many other vendors... I could therefore judge how to present my corals. This is a very touchy subject with folks and it has been for years (photoshop)... What folks have to understand is that in no way are we trying to misrepresent out photos. We set the white balance to what they look like in our system and we photoshop them to take out the blue. WE ARE NOT ADDING COLOR! Our bulbs are located out 2 to 3 FEET above our corals. Yes they are 1000 watt 20k's but at 3 feet away they have as much intensity as a 400 watter at 10 inches.

What is unfortunate about what I see in this thread (and others)is that they are alot of folks that rip us, but they have never ordered from us, or they have ordered from us and something has gone wrong (Fedex delay, tough species, loss of color because of shipping, etc) I hope that this feeling about us is in the minority because that if folks have problem I would hope that they would communicate with us so that we can make things right. We will always make it right, if given that chance.

I am not sure I answered any of the questions or doubts that have been brought about by this thread, but I am trying to be as honest and straightforward as possible. Please let me know what you think about my idea of that poll (LCD Monitors).

Have a great evening and weekend,

Chris @ RM

I don't know enough about computers to know what my monitor is, but it's not a lcd...The only thing holding me back from ordering online...RM or otherwise...is fedex, I've heard way too many horror stories about them messing up most of the time...

Also, if you call this piece not that cool...lol, I hope you never see my tank, you'd laugh. Also, thanx for replying...it's not my thread...but thought I'd say so anyway.

Where can I find Dr. Mac ??

Chris, I have always admired your corals and your pictures, and it has been fun communicating back and fourth with you in the sps forum on coral identification. I made my first purchase from you just last night after reading this thread and finding the other nasuta in your cultured section. I have always heard nothing but positive comments on your coral, and your customer service. I wait in anticipation for tomorrow, when I pick up my new coral. I'm sure I will be very happy with my new peices.

I've ordered 8 or more corals from RM and they always look like the pictures when I get them in as well as there is always nice sized frags included! Thanks Chris for posting!

I've ordered from you guys and gotten 2 different shipments. While the pieces are nice, I wouldn't say they look like the picture completely. But, I'm running 10K's and most corals coming out of a 20K tank into a pure white 10K tank either look similiar or not as nice initially.

However, that picture, IMO, does look super saturated. The way I compare pictures, is compare them to some of the great photographers on here. I see smooth sharp pictures and colors. On some of yours (not all), I see some really saturated colors that just don't look right. Granted, it could be honestly the way it looks, but in the many tanks I've seen, if I saw a coral look like that, it would be selling for 400 an inch.

I will say their customer service is top notch though and they do stand behind their stuff.

I don't think that u will have a problem with fedex. I have ordered from Chris more time then I want to know. but every time I have received my order in good condition. also the way that they pack the coral is outstanding.
on another note the color of the coral as Chris stated that it depends on you computer I have three different computers in my house and I have seen the color difference in all of them. I know that my lap top is the best at looking for coral. so I think that you need to keep that in mind. but what I do know is that there is NO other web site that will take the time to help out people as Chris and Kristine will just look at the sps ID thread!!! All of my coral that I have received from them have looked vary similar to what they post more then other sites that I have bought from.
