Purple LTA..

Hi all i found a putple lta for $60, looks in good shape maybe 4 to 5 inches in diameter, reseach lta n the care level is the same as btas? I have a 110g mix reef with 5 btas right now about 2yrs old. Do you guys think it will be ok in my 110g? Thanks..

If you have a deep enough sand bed, at least 4", good light and water stablity

Thanks, my lights are the 320watt maxspect razor. My sand bed is around 2.5 to 3.5inches only..

So i decided to get the purple lta, the color looked good n the mouth wasn't gapping, so we will see n hope it goes well. My first lta, so do they dig into the sand bed themselves or do i need to dig a little n help bury its foot a little? Thanks...

If you are confident in finding an ideal place for your anemone then you can dig a hole and place the nem there to help it. Otherwise, leave it somewhere close to where rock and sand meet. It will anchor itself. I would recommend the second method since we never know what anemone has in mind.

Remember to turn down the flow when introduce it to your tank.

Thank, i've been wanting to get a purple lta for over a year, n first time saw this one at the petco nest me n it looked pretty healthy. I usually only see the tan onevwgich doesnt look nice. For $60 i guess its an ok price, now i will want a green one iif this purple one does well.

I'm not sure I would say that LTAs are as easy as BTAs. They tend to need more light and sometimes don't attach well, but it looks like you have enough light.

So far it stayed in the sandbed where i placed it. I hope the par is enough at the sand bed level, my tank is 30inches high. Thanks...

I don't believe LTAs are nearly as easy as BTAs. The main reason is, the foot of LTAs often seem to get injured/torn in collection from the wild or when the lfs staff detach the anemone at the time of sale. BTAs will recover well from a tear assuming the anemone is healthy and water conditions are good, LTAs seem not to fare nearly so well from even the most minor of tears to the foot. Otherwise, when an LTA is healthy and established, I would say, like all the other host species, they are quite hardy.
