Putting together my "future" 75 AGA RR (progress)

Looks great, Wendy. I saw you online yesterday and almost asked for an update. Good to see we were thinking the same thing.

Hi Travis :wavehand: and thank you very much. :)

Yes, I've been reading and researching and reading some more. And of course keeping my eyes open for "things" I may want, too. RC's wealth of information is truly incredible, sometimes overwhelming even (for me at least).

Did you use glass silicone to secure the eggcrate to the walls of the tank? That's a great idea.... I think I may use that on my refuge.

Yep, I sure did and it worked like a charm. :)

Awesome! Just waiting on funds and a day to continue my tank build thread :) I just went through this whole thing... tank looks great!

Can snails fit through the holes in the eggcrate? What if I was to use 2 eggcrates offset from each other so the squares are 1/2 as big?

I'm sure they could. Are you planning on placing snails in your fuge? If so, offsetting 2 of them is a great idea. :)

Just trying to plan ahead :) I may offset 2 anyways... just for "extra measure"... will continue with my thread in a couple weeks hopefully ... great tank you got!

Wendy. The Tank looks awsome. What a transformation in just a few months. How are you getting everything to grow so quickly? Is there "rapid grow" for salt tanks? lol

Hi Shawn, good to see you. :)
Thanks for the compliments. I honestly don't do anything special in my tank. Some things just grow quicker than others. My zoos have gone wild, that's for sure. :eek2: Weekly waterchanges and stable conditions are my priorities. The only thing I've been dosing is Bio Calcium and Magnesium.

looks awesome Wendy!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much. :)

I've been trying so hard to learn how to take better pictures. Been going through batteries like there's no tomorrow. :eek2:

Anyway, today I made a small change with my lighting. I switched my Actinic 03 bulb with UVL 75/25 and am quite pleased with the results.

Here are some pictures.
First whole tank shot:

At the end of the month I'm going to my first Frag Swap meeting. I've prepurchased 3 frags already, and am quite excited to get them. They are: Miyagi Tort, Blue Tort, and Garf Bonsai. :D

Wow....... Wendy you must be so proud of yourself!!!!! That turned out so pretty. It was so fun to watch all your hard work in one tread. That tank is going to win a lot of contests I bet if you enter them! Did you keep track of all your costs or were you afraid you would have a Heart Attack?LOL Best of luck to you

Wendy, you probably already said this in this thread but I've been skimming. What lights do you have? Did you end up putting the glass over them? Also what's your bulb combination if they're T5s? Amazing tank by the way.

Hi Deb, and thank you very, very much. :) I kept track of all the cost up until I started stocking the tank with inverts, fish and corals. :D I'm sure if I calculated the livestock my husband would have the heart attack before me. ;)

Wow!

It's amazing what you've accomplished in such a short time!

I am planning an almost identical set up. (75g 30g sump, Octopus skimmer, T-5 lighting.)

How are you liking the skimmer?

What measures do you have to take to control the heat from the lights?

I LOVE the skimmer. I haven't made a single modification to it, and it works like a charm.

I installed one huge fan on top of my (open) canopy, and I controll the speed with a dimmer switch. I have found this to work perfectly. The highest my temps ever got were 82, and that was during the summer when I had left the house and forgotten to turn the AC on before it got too hot in the house.
