Puzzled with Toad Stools

I have 3 green toadstools and they have not opened in over 2 months I have down a lot of reading on there that various things could be my problems such as Nitrates, or low calcium. Everything ells in my tank is thriving yellow scroll growing a lot Gargonians are doing great, and a couple of sps growing really well. I also have a large leather finger coral and green leather finger coral and both are doing really well.

This all leaves me puzzled as to why my toadstools won't open they expand and contract each day and look healthy but won't extend a single polyp.

my levels are...

Salinity .026
PH 8.1 - 8.4
Calcium 430 ppm
Alkalinity 9 dkh
Magnesium 1350 ppm
Temperature 76.8 - 78.4 F

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Perhaps too clean of water? Softies like a more nutrient rich environment. Have you lowered your system of nutrients in the last couple months...more frequent water changes, running gfo/carbon more aggressively, larger skimmer ect.

Been running the same sized skimmer for over 2 years now, and I only do water changes when needed (if Nitrates get to high) I don't currently run Carbon or gfo. I wondered if there would be need to dose Iodine. I have been reading that there is a good number of people are using it. i have also read that you really need a good test kit that you use with this stuff. do you think it would help?

I have 3 toadstools myself and I know the love high amounts of flow so that they can shed their skin to the build up of materials off of them, would you say that your flow really makes those toadstools move? ill post a pic also.

Here's my tank, its had to tell my the tentacles sway a lot.

Anything nipping on them? what fish you have? I have toadstool in one tank and discovered rabbitfish nipping it, moved it out to another tank which share the same water chemistry and toadstool opens up right away.

Thanks for the posts sorry its been a bit, got really busy at work. Good flow not blasting them but could be not enough, might try moving them.

Fish
-yellow tang
-fire fish
-6 line
-blue chromis

Coral
-I have a fairly large leather finger coral and hammer coral that is over 50 heads right by them. could it be chemical war?

Thanks for the help guys!

finger coral shouldn't be a problem, but you need to either move the toad or the hammer. hammers are aggressive. I have two toads with leathers and lps. I run carbon. my toads are about half way up in my 120 and get medium flow. they will retract for a day or so to shed algae, but not for that long.
