I'm going to hook up a large sump today and I have done all the plumbing I can do with out shutting off the overflow/pump.
What is the minimum needed after using PVC cement
untill I should re-start the tank.
I know I have read 24 hours but don't want to shut every thing down that long.
But I'm shure tolulene in the water is not a good thing.
I have been so careful to date .

Let me know what you have done.
or give me a shout 641-831-4207

Randy,

I just did this 2 weeks ago with vid151. We changed out his 75 for a 120 and completely plumbed the 120 then started adding his stuff. He runs SPS, LPS, and softies with quite a few fish, and we had it back up and running in about 3 hours from the time we plumbed it. I don't think he lost anything except for a Green Cromis. The last time I was over there his tank looked great.

I got a call from a friend last winter, His return pump had quit and the tank was going without heat, I had to replace a few pipes to hook up the new pump and we fired it within minutes of gluing the last pipe. All the fish and corals behaved as usual even though the tank temp had dropped to 73*.

Glue it and go, I've never had an issue with PVC cement. I just redid my closed loop, once everything was in place I fired it right back up, no wait time needed. If you are still worried about it, run some fresh carbon.
