AKA Malacoctenus triangulatus

I'm having probs finding info on this fish searching on google. I have a 20 with only a green clown goby and 4 shrimps (blood shrimp, 2 peppermint, harlequin) how big does it get? fishbase says 7.5cm, is this correct? will it eat the other residents? will it harass my goby? will it jump? my tanks top is open. temperment? etc.. i dont have this fish in any of my books, (i dont think) so i pretty much need whatever info you may have. Thanks!

I have had two in the past three years.

The first one was a perfect citizen. Didn't pick on anybody. The second one was prettier being very red especially through the belly but he was a beast with an attitude and picked on and chased everything.
All in all they are a cool and unique fish but I personally wouldn't keep another unless the community was semi aggressive.

They are native here in FL, the difference in color is a secondary sexual characteristic, males are have much more red and over all more colorful and agressive. I would not call them agressive, it is just the males are more likely to be territorial. They get about 2 1/2 inches for a really big one. I've never had trouble keeping them, I have a lot of shrimp and though they will eat a tiny shrimp like a sexy shrimp, they wont bother anything as large as a cleaner or peppermint shrimp.

The ones I've kept have eaten everything I feed, both frozen and prepared foods. I've kept them with just about every other native fish I have available, angels, butterflies, wrasses other blennies and gobies. I have never tried to put 2 males together, but I have kept males with females, and not had any problems.

hmmn.. cool.. i think this might be a neat addition to my tank then... 20 gals not too small for it right? *crosses fingers*
