Im moving my 10g nano up to a 30 gallon reef, which will contain mostly softies. i was looking at fixtures and didnt find to many that were 30 inches long, i picked out 2.
the first is a 30" 150 HQI with 12 LEDS and the second is a 96 watt T-5 setup. i was wondering if the 150 watt HQI would be too much for softies or not?? like i want to be able to put them in any part of the tank. thanks in advance

A 30" spread for one halide seems a bit much. Especially without somthing to supplement it, like some T5's or CF's. The LED's aren't good for anything but moonlights. It seems that you would have some shady spots in the upper corners of the tank. You shouldn't have a problem from too much light from those fixtures. I have softies up at the surface of my tank, and I run halides and T5's.

ok thanks for the input. you can get a hanging kit for it so its set up higher from the tank, what height do you think would suffice?
