QT near Sump

I am working on my build and am wondering if there is a negative for putting the QT near the sump. I have a room behind the DT that houses the sump and the QT. I read something the other day about contamination through the air. Does that mean a disease could get airborne and go from QT to sump? Any insight is appreciated.

My QT sits right next to my frag tank. I use water from it (the frag tank) to do water changes on the QT. IMO, the less schlepping of buckets the better.

Besides - I already have 3 rooms of the house taken over with fish stuff - if I try to set something up in ANOTHER room, I'm liable to be sleeping in the garage.

There was some discussion a while back about aerosolized ich spreading from one tank to another. Seems unlikely, frankly, though you certainly want to make sure that no water from the QT can splash into the sump.

That's what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure.

A bit surprised by what everyone above does. Mines a good 30+ft away in another room. I thought you wanted at least 10ft.

Never do that its an accident waiting to happen. I had this happen way back when. Now I keep QT systems in another whole room and all tools and equipment is marked as QT tank materials.
