I am starting new. The display is new and QT is new. So will start with fish and add corals later. ( will QT that too )

For the set up I have a 20 G tank
Coralife Aqualight Deluxe Linear Strip PowerCompact Fixtures
Actinic 03/10000K (50/50) compact fluorescent lamp
Marineland Emperor 400 biowheel filter
couple of 2 " T s
Maxijet 1200

Anything else I need ? Do I need to add another spounge filter to this ?

And for cycling what should I add can I just use one of the LR which I am getting - uncured ?

Best advice I can offer is to read the sticky threads at the top of the forum. I think that old guy, "Watermaker" has his name on them. Always taking credit for someone elses work.

Much depends if you are going to use it as just a QT, for new arrivals or also use it as a hospital tank. For a dedicated QT I like to have rock and a DSB as it will not be medicated. You take it easy on the rockwork but a few shallow hiding spots are welcomed by the new fish. Every thing else you have are fine.

If it is to be duel duty then keep it simple and just use the biowheel on a bare bottom tank with a couple of clay flower pots in lieu of LR.

Watch it, you almost said my name 3 times. :D

Clay flower pots ?? what is that for ?

I am just starting new. Right now will use as a QT tank. May need to use as hospital tank. LR I was thinking just to get the cycle started. After that will get it off before adding the fish.

Or is there anyother way to cycle ?
