Quarantine of new frags / Dips

I’m paranoid about a new zoo frag about to go into the tank. It came out from the ocean. Does anyone have specific quarantine procedures? Also, I know Mucho Reef’s dip works good, but, has anyone used Kent Marine’s Tech D too? (maybe in addition to…)

Thanks

Inspect very closely. I just got a frag yesterday and after inspection found 2 tiny crabs. The frag was only 2x1 inches.

My number one concern is Nudi Branch egg sacks that can be hidden and hard to find. Does any one know how long they take to hatch if I miss a patch of eggs? The same goes for live rock.

Thank you.

I always run mine under the faucet for a little bit.
Have never had a zoa problem to this day.

i second that...nothing like a fresh water dip.....
On one thread i posted on: did i get the HEAT for stating that i do that.....you'll be amazed on how much will come off the rock!
Haven't lost any zoos by this method as well....

I've read another route it hyper-salinity....1.030 or higher......will eradicate all pests???

fresh water

fresh water

I had a batch of zoas come in with a fungas and figured what can fresh water hurt???? I sprayed those suckers good with city tap water for a few minutes. Wow.....to my amazement they not only lived but no more fungas!!! Now I rinse all mother colonies (zoas only) with fresh tap water and I have LOTS of healthy colonies.

really u guys run it under regular tap water?? what about matching temp and ph?? im a zooanthid newbie that needs help

kimbo, zoas are VERY hardy for the most part and you'd be suprised at what it takes to kill them! I've received them in a broken bag and they were basically damp for two days, and they all survived. I've also had them in water as low as 55 degrees and as high as 85. I actually dip mine in a cup of tank water and iodine. Do a search and you will see how this works. Never had a problem with my zoas, best of luck to you!

Doesn't really matter about the temp or chlorine because they don't stay in tap water for days, just mintues or seconds.

I dip everything that goes into my tank... I usually use TMPCC... I'm very paranoid about introducing predators to my tank...

I've heard although expensive TMPCC is The best dip for all type of new stuff goin in to your tank... compare $26 to a loss of $$$$$$$ in your tank...
