I'm not sure why but the last two fish I have put in the quarantine tank have died! The tank is 5 gal and I was at 78 degrees had a air stone and a small hang on the back filter. Im so confused?
I did not have an ammonia badge on the tank and it was this morning and he went in yesterday afternoon. The tank was dark and he did have an pipe. How soon after being placed into quarantine? Do you have an ammonia badge in the tank?
Moving into a new home is always stressful for a fish, so sometimes no matter what we do, it stresses them out too much.
Do you have PVC elbows in the tank, or some way for them to get out of sight? Is the tank in a darker, low-activity area?
I am sorry to hear about the loss of the fish, however sometimes it is really through no fault of our own.
No I did not seed the tank with anything but to my knowlage that it did not matter if the tank had any beneficial bacteria because the meds would kill it anyway? And it was a kole tang.I agree probably ammonia. Are you seeding your quarantine with a sponge that has spent a couple weeks in your main tank? What kind of fish were they?
Thanks this is awesome!I recommend you read the Basic Quarantine FAQ at http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1846124
