Queen Angel in SPS tank

There's pros and cons like every large angel- but a mture sps tank should be no problem housing it as long as you meaty lps and zoos are disposable. They will be eaten at some point in time.
My buddies 375 that used to house one.

as far as I know they will eat the tips, but if you have a big tank with a lot of sps the damage should be so spread out that you won't really see much difference
 
I have a sub-adult Emporer in mine.
So far he has only tried a Blasto coral once.
But the biggest problem is the attitude toward his tankmates.
Aggressive!

Gasman: Never one to hijack, but I'm curious as to how the raccoon butterfly worked out in your buddy's tank!
 
That's a good question, I've seen a few pic on here with butterfly's in SPS tanks, I thought they werent reef safe as a rule?

There's a few that people keep with varying degrees of success. I have a copperband and a yellow longnose. The pyramid seems to work out well, and my friend has a heniochus, but you need to be careful of the species. The list of b'flys that people keep with SPS seems to grow each year.

Generally... "they aren't."
Some are better then others but they each have their own personalities and thats a big part of it. IMO
 
Don't Queen angels go up to 8inches? I have a 125gal tank, was thinking about getting a Queen,Emperor or Majestic. I'm just worried they will outgrow the tank. Any suggestions guys? :hmm2:
 
I have a 6 inch queen. Leaves everything alone, SPS, LPS, Softies, including my clam. However, it is a mean fish. If it does not like a tank mate, it will kill it. Eats everything and is very active. Despite it's aggression, I love this fish.
 
I thought about this for quite some time, after the research and countless conversations with experienced hobbyist, I decided to go with an Asfur Angel in my 260G SPS tank mainly due to the aggression of the Queen Angel. Beautiful fish though!
 
I house a Blue Angel, Emperor, and two Flames in a 320. So far so good. And yes, they eat zoos.. not nip, eat. My rule of tumb is, feed them often. Well fed angels will only be curious with your corals.
 
I have an adult queen in my 200 sps that will have nothing other than pellet food!!.... Interestingly, it completely wiped out all of my aptasia..... I guess in the wild they eat jellyfish..... Aptasia must fill the craving....... Every once in a while itl take a nip at my clam.... The clam is really healthy and usually retracts immediately and the queen moves on....... She can be VERY agressive to other fish..... For 6 months, the queen was alone in the tank..... I then added a sohol tang and a few others......she beat on that tang for a week ...... Then, she randomly stopped and now they swim together like a mated pair!!! .... She has been a great fish..... On the pellet food, her body is literally 1" thick (about 8" long)...... Oh hey.... She did take a near fatal nip of a chalice.... I just moved it and she lost interest........
