Question about flame angel

Ok guys my daughter had to have a flame angel so we have had him in her tank he is doing great but I noticed that my acans looked to be dying well after close watch the angel is picking at the acans I've lost 4 heads. Now I've moved acans to another tank. Thought that the flame was reef safe! He hasn't bothered the frogspawn or the kryptonite yet going to keep close eye.

Any ideas what he is missing to be nipping at the acans? He is being feed twice a day with mysis, emerald feast, brine, and spurlina.:uhoh2:

It is not unusual for any fish to have an occasional, or even start to enjoy a coral snack.
I have seen many a reef safe fish (including yellow tangs) dine on corals that one would never expect them to. I doubt your flame angel will change his ways now.
It is always a bummer when that happens though.

I had a "reef safe" coral beauty once that was constantly nipping at stuff. He was well fed (2-3 times a day) and after a while I ended up trading him to SNAKEMANVET who never had any issue with him doing the same in his tank - go figure.

Sounds like that snake man could be a fish Whisperer. ;)

I had one and had to end up getting ride of it. I tried to cover my Acans but as soon as I took the cover off it would pick on them again. There is no 100% reef safe angle out there you are always taking a risk when adding one to a reef. I have had a potters angle now for about 6 months and he does not touch and corals in the tank at all. Good luck
