question about mini brittle star hitchhikers

I did a water change today and when I was done all the mini stars came out and stood up on their tanacles and sprayed out a reddish orangish gunk out of their bodies were they spawning? never saw anything like it before but they all did it at the same time

If you find yourself with "extras" they are very popular and trade easily.

I spread mine around between my tanks, sumps, and refugium so that they can do their jobs better. IMO, you can't really have too many.

I haven't seen any sign of mine since I put him in the tank 5 days ago.
Hope he's actually there somewhere...alive.

I've had these on every tank that i've run - and I've never introduced them, they have always found their way in on LR or coral pieces, they are small, cute, and harmless!

thats how i got them too i like them i was just wondering what they were doing when they were blowing out the red stuff the first one i saw i thought it was poopin but then they all did it lol

i had a ton of them in my 29g. after awhile i re-aquascaped the tank. within an hour of doing so they all crawled to the tops of the rocks too and the big ones stood over the smaller ones and sprayed the same liquid into the water. then they all seemed to disappear for a month or 2. they ended up coming back with a bunch of tiny armed baby stars. so i assume they spawned in your tank as well. i actually heard it was fairly common
