Question about skimmer *VIDEO*

I just turned on my brand new BH-2000 skimmer for the first time on a brand new tank with fresh RO/DI water and new aragonite substrate. It looks to be working fine, and there are pleny of bubbles, but there are no dirty bubbles overflowing into the collection tank.

Is this expected since my water should be perfectly pure?

See the below for what I mean. Pushing the collection tank all the way down seems to make the most bubbles. You can also see a little but of grime that happened in the first minute that I turned it on, then no more.

I assume you've added salt mix to the RO/DI water so without a bioload it won't do much at all right now. The first skimmate you got was from the aragonite slough. When you get a bioload in there the skimmer will need to get slimmed up and break in before it will perform well.

skimmers need time and a decent bioload to perform.

Patience, patience (-:

skimmers will take a week or so to break in. give it time and let the bioload catch up with the skimmer and in no time you will see it do work.
