question above evaporation cooling

Are evaporation cooling fans effective in a room that is above 90 and where a tank can hit 89 without any chillers or fans. Is blowing warm air on the water going to help cool the tank. Is there a general effectiveness of fans, like 4-6 degrees below ambient temperature.

humidity is a greater factor than the ambient room temperature. Higher humidity = LOWER overall evaporative cooling affect.

Example - I've been in Arizona, air temp 110+, pool water temp 90(ish) with extremely low humidity (less than 20%) - get out of the pool and you get goosebumps and are running for a towel to wrap around you. In Florida, air temp 90(ish), pool water mid 80's, very high humidity - getting out of the pool creates little to no cooling affect on your skin.

Yes, there will still be some evaporative cooling even in a 90 room assuming the humidity is not too high. You should be able to get at least 4 degrees of temperature drop with stong fans.

Partially depends on the humidity. Evaporation can be very effective. There is a guy that posts on here who has an outdoor tank in the California desert where it hit's over 110 degrees Fahrenheit. With just a cover and a Sears box fan he keeps it around 82. Keep the humidity low and a 10 degree drop could be possible. Having MH lighting in a light hood might make it less effective, if you have something like that.
