Question on vinegar dosing

To help combat ever rising nitrates I'm gonna start dosing vinegar. I've got just about everything figured out except where to dose at. Should I dose into the skimmer section, the return, or straight to the DT? ( I don't have a fuge)

I put it into my return section so when it hit my DT it was spread out. I have dual return nozzles.

Go by the chart. If you have a Salifert test kit, you can borrow the syringe to measure, with only water, say, a bar 'shot' glass for so many mm, use magic marker, then mark a double dose, a quadruple, etc, all the way up the glass. Gives you an easy way to measure the dose, and the syringe, which has never had anything in it but water---can go back to duty in your test kit.

I agree the return is a fine place to dose into. Also, if you are topping off manually you can dilute the vinegar into the rodi as you add it. PS the chart is a wuss, you can go a little faster but it is really good to spread it out somewhat. Nobody wants a face full of acid, including your corals. So like a squirt when you wake up, one at lunch and one before dinner or whatever. I pull the full dose into a kid's medicine syringe and then go from there cause that way I can be sure I get it all in by the end of the day.

Well i set it up today on my doser. I calculated my total water volume at about 120 so i just went with 125 to make the math easier. Will be dosing 2ml twice a day

Ok. Could someone tell me if this sounds possible. Today is day 5 of dosing. Went up to 8ml today. I also checked my nitrate. It was less than 5. When i checked 5 days ago it was between 40-60. I tested twice both times and got the same result. I expected it to work, albeit not that fast. Havent done any water changes either so idk.

Wow that's really fast. It took almost 7 weeks for mine to drop from 20 down to 2. I think my skimmer at that time was a little undersized.

I too thought it unrealistically fast, but literally the only thing ive done is the vinegar. Same skimmer, etc. I guess ill just call myself lucky. Also of note has anyone noticed alk going up while dosing vin? Mine has went from 9 to 11 since i started.
