Does anyone see a problem with washing out filter socks by hand with tap water and a little bleach. I dunno if the tap water could cause a problem?

I have never used RO to wash mine and haven't had any issues. In fact, I used to run them through the washing machine with bleach only (no soap).

a while ago i was putting them in the washing machine, i had a cyno outbreak and thought the washed bags could have been the cause. i removed them for a while and it went away, could be totally unrelated though

Steve, I wash mine in the washer with my fish tank towels and a little soap. I then run them on some "speed" cycle on our machine w/out soap. I have not noticed any ill effects. I may start to wash them w/out soap to save wash cycle and see what happens.

Chlorine will turn into a gas as it dries, no problem at all Steve, If you feel better you could always use a lil prime just for added safety but not really needed

they are right. Actually, I go the disposable route.

I go to Joanne fabrics and buy a ream of sock filament and sew my own. Once full, the water pressure usually tears them up, so no need to wash.......

...wait a sec......er, I meant to say I send my wife to do that....yeah, uh...I send my wife and she sews them!
