Questions about DOC 90xx skimmers

Hi -

I have a 50 gallon SPS tank with a medium-to-high bioload. I am looking at the DOC 9005/9010/9015 skimmers because I have a very small space available in my sump (about 4 3/4" x 11").

1) Which of these would you recommend based on capacity for my system?

2) Is the 9005 the only model that requires the extension kit to run in-sump, or do the 9010 and/or 9015 need a kit as well?

3) Do these units include the pump internally, or do you have to add an external pump?

4) Including the extension kit (and/or external pump if needed) will these models fit in a 4 3/4" wide space?

Thanks!
Larry

I would get a 9010, it includes the sump kit, the pump is built in and it needs a space of just under 4.75 by 7" however the cup is 6.5" wide, as long as the cup would be above the sump it should work.

Excellent, thanks for the feedback Roger!

My sump is a 15 gallon tank, so it is 12" tall. Does the skimmer cup sit higher than 12"? (I can't tell from the pictures I've seen)

Also, my water level is at about 8" - will it work with that?

Thanks!
Larry

The skimmer cup will be about just at about 12", it needs only 4-10" of water to work so you should be in good shape.
