Questions for the anemone experts

Hello all - have a some questions for the anemone experts.

Question #1 - Tank upgrade question - currently have a 72 gal bow front which has been up for about 14 years. It is a stable system based on the simple sump skimmer and live rock set up. We are upgrading this system to a 120 gal rimless system which is to be anemone specific. Currently we have the pink sand on the bottom but find it blows around to easy and would like to change it to the reef floor special grade when changing tanks. First question: when we make the change and move over the water and live rock with the new reef floor special sand to the new tank, do you think we have the wait for the tank to mature again or will we be ok to add once the system stabilizes itself?

Question #2 (3&4) - Equipment question - here is a list of the new equipment that will be used on the new 120 gal rimless tank:
Vertex Omega 150 Skimmer
Ruby Red 36S Trigger system sump w/ refugium
Reef Life Support Systems Waveline 6000 DC return pump Gen 2
Dual Chamber GFO
Apex Gold system
2 (maybe 3) AI Hydra's
Marineland LED light for refugium
2 EchoTech wireless MP40s
Auto top off system - TBD
Water Change System - same as on the current tank - self made with water tanks w/Blueline 70 pump for mixing and pumping in new water.

Do you think the equipment is good enough and complete? Are we missing anything? any suggestions on changes or upgrades to the equipment list? All of you input and suggestions are appreciated.

I'm no expert, but may be able to give a little help.

Your tank should have no problem being you are using old rock from previous tank. I would use the water too and let it stablize for a week or two before adding anything to be safe.

Check out Premium Aquatics Tropic Eden Reef Flakes. Sand is great and won't blow. Very clean and beautiful.

Equipment sounds pretty good. May need a larger skimmer, but I think you'll be ok with everything. There is no such thing as an overrated skimmer. :-)

Good luck to you!

Looks decent to me. This would be a good time to consider using a closed loop instead of powerheads to prevent anemone mulching.

Thanks for the input! any suggestions on the upgrading the skimmer?

Close loop does a lot of anemone munching also. Intake of the close loop draw a lot of water. Cannot place the intake in the overflow due to turbulence water cause air bubbles.

What he said, I would NOT recommend a closed loop having lost several anemones that way already! Intakes are VERY strong and all it takes is one wandering anemone and it will be soup.

Did you remember heaters or did I just miss them?

I've got the special grade reef sand and really like it personally.

you didn't miss them, I did! It is actually a good question. I have been using a titanium heater for about 10 years. It is a 300 watt Won Pro Heat and it still works great. I have researched heaters and haven't really found anything that screams out at me. Since we will be using an Apex I thought about contacting Neptune and asking them which heater unit they recommend for use with their system. if you have any suggestions, I am all ears.

I will stick to the Vortex w/ covers. thank you for the advise! Please keep it coming. I appreciate it.
