Yes, they will ist vertical loss in GPH on head loss diagrams, but running long ways horizontally can bump your GPH way down. If your not worried about much turnover, then don't worry about much turnover. :) I'd go bigger, stronger and then you can dial in what you'd like.


I'll tell you now mag 18 aint gonna cut it. I have a mag24 plumbed into my koi pond and it barely moves 1500GPH, and I am almost level pushing 9.5 feet.

This post will tell you something about pressure. Running level pipe for 12-13 feet will drop your return's end flow significantly more than you would think.

LoL. Third time is a charm. ;-) Yeah, I am not super concerned with the GPH but I will look at something larger and throttle back. Its off to Home Depot this weekend to pick up plumbing.
