quick clown breeding question

how long should i keep the light on over the clown fry tank? i think i read somewhere all the time is that correct?

From the research I've done (cause I wanna breed clowns) it seems like the first 24hrs are critical lights on but very dim and after that a 12hr on/off cycle. Light can increase over a couple weeks.

Someone with experience can jump in and correct my info if I'm wrong.

lighting Amphiprion larvae in grow out tanks 24/7 made NO difference when I experimented with it.

I'd do 12on/12off. See what other guys like nirvana suggest.

The most important things are the phyto and rotifer cultures ;)

my rotifers are going good, and i am using some rotifer diet i bought at my lfs (arc) they use it to grow their rotifers and it is working well.

i have a light over the tank over a towel to difuse it somewhat. seems to be working well.

thanks for the input

Light is important. If i remember correctly, i blacked out the sides with black poster board. Ambient room light only. Too much drives them into the corners, not enough they can't target rots. Its 50 little things to remember.suden bright lights can kill. I can't remember half of it.

It really depends on your rotifer cultures. If you have LOTS of rotifers and won't run out, then you can light the tank for longer. If you start to run low, go with a shorter photoperiod.

I would leave the tank lit (dimly with blacked out sides) for the first 18 hours they are alive. This can help them get a good jump on learning how to hunt.

Then, I would go with a 16 on and 8 off cycle.
