quick lighting question!

ok so i set up a 29 gallon tank like a month ago (probably less) and all i have in there is zoos so far but i have had a chanse to hang my 250 watt pendant i really was hoping that i would but i havent had the time,all the zoos are doing great and some have multiplyed and all im doing for lighting is sunlight through my window about 3-4 hours a day ( frown ) but anyways how long do u think they can go with out light?
i mean my mom doesnt want me to hang the light yet cause we are going to move in like a week or 2 but im trying to tell her that the ARE living creatures and this is there food basically but she doesnt want to hear me out :rolleye1: so how much longer do u think they will survive?

zoos can live awhile with out some light though your asking for a bit to long. If it was me i'd hang the light but that might get you in some trouble. i would amagine that if they can survive being shiped with out water for 24-38 hours to the LFS they could handle some time with out light. I would prolly give them a week or to if you say there is some stray light entering the room. though i would strongly go against any of this and get the light up some how.

a week, yes; two... you might start losing things. and when you do get some lighting you may burn them as they will have been out of light for way too long. I got your club-zoa avatar made will post it here in a minute.

You know, I would hang the light on a frame made from 2x4s so that it is portable for when you move.

Make a rectangle that fits around the top of the tank with catty-cornered pieces at each corner so it perches on the top of the tank. Then make four corner pillars, and attach anther rectangle to the top. Last, screw a two by four lengthwise across the top rectangle and then suspend the pendant from that. Should be pretty stable if you do it right- used to have a light suspended like that for a bit when I lived in NC in college.
