Quiet return pump

I am building a new system, and I am trying to build it to be very quiet. I heard that Eheim has one of the quietest pumps. However, eheim does not have one that is strong enough.

Any suggestions? Looking for at least 1600 gph submersed.

I have a water blaster pump on my 40 and it is extremely quiet. Kind of pricey though. I also have a lifeguard aquatics pump on my 90 that is very quiet for the money. both are smaller than what you are looking for but I'm sure the larger sizes are just as impressive.

I've been using the quiet one brand as my return and have no problems with it. It's quiet and been running for over a year with out any maintenance.

I use a diablo dc pump and it is super quiet. I have the 5500 on my 40 breeder running on speed 2 but if I upgrade I can just adjust the speed higher. You could use their 10500, at 2500 gph it's overkill but you can dial it back, or if you ever build a manifold to run reactors or go bigger you would be all set.

I have a DC pump too, you do not know if it is running or not unless you check for flow.
Check them out, the new models are out now.

Laguna 1500 is the quietest internal pump I have unused, quiter than eheim. It is the same exact pump sold as the ATB Flowstar, so you can look up multiple reviews.

I have not tried the new DC returns out yet, but I've seen nothing but good reviews saying they are silent.

+1 on Laguna 1500, I am using the same pump, it is not quiet, it is dead silent. I had Eheim 1262 before this one and it was quiet and very good, but there is no comparison as far as the noise between those two.

I'm getting some new Jebao DC12000 pumps and will let people know what I think of them after I get them. I have a Little Giant in my sump and it's quiet and has a 5 year warranty!

fluval sea sp4 or sp6. I have had mine running for a few weeks. I have the sp6 (3400gph) and its is extremely quiet. They are made by laguna, and have the same motor block as the non-DC Bubble king pumps. I highly recommend them.

Eheim does make excellent stuff... They will run 20plus years however like stated there are other options

Laguna pumps are excellent. I have their 4200 and yea..... Very quiet

Red dragon 12m3 is comparable in flow to a dart or super dart. Silent.......... But pricey.. It was to much flow so I swapped it for a waterblaster 5000 which does 1200-1500 gph.... Silent.

If it was me red dragon is the best made and Laguna and waterblaster are next....

Laguna 1500 is my favorite pump, nice and quiet and good price point ( <$150). I have one valved back so I am running around 50-75% flow

Any pump i have ever had, i put silicone "lines" around the whole pump. About two or three of them depending on the size. I usually use black silicone. The silicone always took the vibrations out of any pump i have ever used - from el cheapo pumps to expensive ones.

I can vouch for the Jebao DC12000 I have 2 of them running you will never know they are on unless you touch them. Extremely quiet.

Yes... Silicone under pump will make a not well balanced pump quieter. Also not using hard PVC for the first foot or so helps. You can use the clear flexible line for a foot then go to rigid PVC. That eliminates any resonances transmitted through the pipes.
