Thinking about the the Dolphin Amp Master MDA 4000/3000 verse the Sequence Dart or Barracuda.

Looking for a strong and quiet pump to turn 2500 plus p/h

Any one have one of these pumps or can recommend something?

I like my Sequence a lot, but have never used/heard a Dolphin so I cant really compare.

From RC -
"I use an ampmaster 3000 for a return and it is fine. I have owned 3 and so far 2 have siezed repeatedly, the seals have been replaced, but I didn't shell out the extra money for the high-abrasion seals, just the regular one as I figured they would just seize again. All three of them leaked from the original seal. The third one seems to be a real die hard, never a single problem, so I'm running 33% success rate.
Would I buy another? Nope, I a am switching to reeflow pumps. "

"The marine seal on the ampmaster is supposed to solve all leak issues. The seal is around $60."

This is where I'm at with pumps - I'm about pumped out

I may go with the Sequence 3200

Thanks for the post.

I had heard good things about the Dolphin amp master. I was basically done ready to order the 4000/3000 MDA ABRASIVE PROOF SEAL. But if you have had such bad luck out of three pumps now thinking about the the other option which was the Sequence 3200 or Barracuda.

I have a 220 gallon tank and about 8 - 9 feet of head. So sounds like I need either one.

$310...Sequence 3200.....213w....2200gph

$260...Barracuda.............325w.....2500gph

went to http://www.mdminc.com/Choosing_The_Right_Pump.htm and was trying to figure out static head, friction head and pressure head... Boy too much to figure out.

I have two 2" drains from the over flow and two 1.5" out of the sump to the pump and then 9' to the top of the tank. then was planning on using the Spider 1.5" manifold to six 1/2" ports to the top of the tank...

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
