Quoyi parrotfish reef safe?

Not all 4" fish are created equal. This thing is fat as a cigar!

The wrasses didn't even look at him twice so I released him into the wild. Oddly enough, the little annularis tried to give him grief but finally just gave up. He was getting no where.

He's already taken flake...I'm about to go feed mysis. Fingers crossed he takes them on the first day. He is obviously happy to be around live rock again as he is swimming around nibbling on the rock.

Total stunner!

Truly stunning specimen, I ended up not getting the one I thought I was because someone bought it right before me! I blame my thread but it is my next addition. Post a video beach break, would love to see her in action

Thanks!

He hammered the mysis tonight - really happy that we are off to a good start. Interested to see where he beds down tonight.

My bellus is such a pig; by far my plumpest fish. She has no mate but has a small swallowtail female that she likes to boss around.

He looks great!! I can't believe how much red coloration he has for such a small specimen.

Yeah, he is an amazing specimen. They are very thick fish. My parrot likes to hide in the rock and pretend he is a rock himself. Funny to see, but when he gets spooked he goes camo and sits still. Just his eyes move around. Great sign that he is eating so early. Mine took several weeks before he ate, and he did just fine. Yours will too. Awesome tank by the way

Thanks for the kind words!

He looks great this afternoon. I didn't feed "breakfast" until around 1 (I feed 3x daily) and he ate both NLS and New Era pellet. Really went after the New Era. I need to get a bigger NLS pellet for him as the .5s I feed now are a little small.

What all are you guys feeding yours?

Has anyone been bit by their parrot? That beak is a little intimidating and looks like it could do some damage.

Yes, yes it is

Mine will eat pretty much anything, as long as it's on the small side. It doesn't really like larger pieces... I feed NLS pellets, HBH spirulina pellets, hikari mysis, hikari plankton, PE mysis, Sally's plankton, raw shrimp, scallop, and clam.

Uhhhh...yea. How do you put your hands in the tank with the fish coming at you like that? That looks like at the minimum a serious bleeder and possibly stitches or a cut ligament!

I'm going to try and stay on good terms with mine :lmao:

I love this picture!!! My parrot is halfway through his QT, still seems a little skittish.

Mine does the same thing to the glass, not sure why. But when my hand is in the tank, he is in hiding, so no worries on getting bitten. Mine still only touches pellets, even though I feed over 12 kinds of food.

Cant speak for the aquarium however Ive been diving in schools of these fish and they have not at all been aggressive when when "reaching out" to them.

That looks like an awesome fish! Congrats on getting one. I would love to switch things up in my tank rather than it being mostly tangs lol

What you guys say would be the minimum size tank for them?

One place had minimum tank size as 600 Liters, which is 135g
