Quoyi parrotfish reef safe?

I freaked out the other day thinking my big meredithi angel had ich. Nope, just tiny particles of sand. Turns out when I walk in the room, and all the fish huddle in the corner waiting for food, the quoyi gets all excited and poops all over the other fish

Haha I too thought the same thing about my orange shoulder the other day, then I witnessed the poop and it all made sense:lolspin:

He'll have to fight my Kole tang for it. Yuk!!!

This is good to know in a disgusting type of way. If someone I knew pooped on me, it'd be their last... I'd definetely loose my appetite...

Hi guys..

What would you say, is it possible to keep a scarus quoyi in a 170g tank.
Tankmates: Tomini tang, moorish idol, p. navarchus, scots fairy and exquisitus.

I would try to get a rly small one.

cheers

This parrotfish is really not liking the cuppramine. It eats very well in the morning, but as the day goes on it gets very lethargic. It's in it's camouflage, and sitting in the corner trying to hide breathing somewhat erratically at times (rarely) by about 4:00 PM, and will not eat for the rest of the night. I check the copper level after every water change (5g every 2 or 3 days in a 20g tank) and monitor ammonia to ensure it isn't spiking. It wasn't like this before I added the cuppramine. She did fine for the first 3 days of treatment, and has been slowing down since then.

I'm considering cutting the cuppramine short, giving it a week to recover, then starting the prazipro.

Thoughts???

What levels are you with the Cupramine? No Need in going the full 0.5 mg/l strength. All you need is 0.3 mg/l levels which will kill off ich. I do this level on all of my fish, and all of them always ate like pigs. My Quoyi too.

What's the filtration setup like on your quarantine tank?

Thanks for the reply!!!

So, I can do untreated topoffs until I reach .3? I am currently doing the .5 that was in the instructions...

I am only running filter floss and matrix in a HOB filter...

+1 to the .3 concentration, just treat for longer if need be but this seems to be the standard treatment recommendation. I'm not sure why seachem hasn't undated their dosing instructions. You can always call them at seachem, everytime I have they have been very knowledgable and helpful. Also for those looking for a Quoyi, DD has one coming up today

Live Aquaria Divers Den just had one last Friday.

Oh. You are in Switzerland. Any chance of getting one of your LFS to do a special order for you?

Yes I am in switzerland :) But my LFS told me that they will do a special order for me. Hopefully they find a juv. scarus quoyi soon.

May I ask if my fish is a quoyi or not?

He is, and a nice looking one too

Thank you. I bought it without any knowledge of what exactly its species is. I just thought it was beautiful and fortunately it has been in my tank for 1&1/2 years and help a lot to keep rock clean...while eating everything I put in ...
