Quoyi parrotfish reef safe?

Here's the DD pic. Hopefully the color still pops under my lighting. I've got the NLS pellets ready for him.

Yeah I was surprised. I saw him when it went up at 3 and didn't pull the trigger until around 5:30. I knew I wanted him but had to convince the wife. [emoji2]

My Quoyi came in from DD on Tuesday. My wife adjusted qt salinity and floated for 15-20 min, it immediately wedged itself up against a pvc fitting. Since yesterday it's moved wedging spots a couple times but that's about it. Tossed in a couple pellets today with no response at all. Those who have had experience with these, is this something to worry about yet?

Nothing to worry about, they will do that when scared. Give it a few days to acclimate. Is there any rock in the tank with it or just PVC?

I know the horror stories and have seen some pics . But does anyone have experience with parrot fish scraping acrylic so bad it looks cloudy and terrible.? Like I said I know the stories but I always end up seeing the same pic with a quoyi In a tank and the front viewing panel has like a million bite marks In It and looks horrible. But it's always the same pic I see. I now have a beautiful acrylic tank and have been thinking about getting a parrot but if more people have had the issue of the fish scratching the glass I think I may have to pass.

I have heard the same horror stories as you. I too have a acrylic tank and will have a Quoyi in a few months... I will let you know how it goes. On a side not people have triggers in tanks that are acrylic and seem to have no issues so I would think the same would hold true with parrots. Mine never tried to scrape the glass in my 220g when I had it so I don't know why acrylic would be any different?

So far no good. Mine has been hiding in the display since the day I added him. He ate in the first two days but has not since.

Nori was the only thing he did eat. But now is not even coming out of the rock he has wedged himself into. The DD description was "eats pellets very well".

Did you call and let DD know that he isn't accepting food at all? They typically will extend the guarantee

I got mine from DD also a month or so ago. It did not eat first few days but is eating like a champ now. Eats pellets, frozen and flakes. No nori yet.

Give it sometime.

I moved my parrot to the display last week. What a difference, he went from being lethargic in the qt to swimming in the open and picking on all the rocks. He pretty much has already ate all my hair algae and is taking to frozen more and more. Finally got him eating nori too. The funny or not so funny thing is, I have yet to see him eat pellets which he was "eating well" at divers den. How's your quoyi doing BCT?
