Rabbitfish Stabbed Tang

Ever since i added a rabbitfish to one of my clients reef, the yellow tang has been bullying him around. He backs up to the FoxFace and slappes him with his tail and chases him off.

Well today she noticed the yellow tang has a peice of the foxfaces spine stuck in his side. (serves him right IMO) But now the client is freaking out about her tang.

Do you think the tang will die from this and should i yank the foxface out of there and take him back to the fish store? The spine is not in the gill but i know foxface is mildly venomous. What should i do?

The client might drop me as her tank keeper if the tang dies after i had a hard time convencing her the rabbit fish was a peacefull beautiful fish.

Below is a pic the client took of the spine if you can see it... i cant

Well if the fish is still alive today then it should be fine I believe. I can't see where on the fish you were talking about from the picture, if you could elaborate a bit more. If anything getting stuck by the foxface will teach him a lesson and he won't be messing with him anymore.

I don't see anything, but pictures can be pretty useless at times. Is it possible the client is just seeing the tangs scalpel?

I don't see anything on the tang in the pic either (other than his scalpel). If the rabbitfish had nailed the tang, I doubt that it would be living or at least acting like any semblence of normalcy.

I got rid of a foxface that I believe killed a nice healthy copperband that I had had for a couple of years. The foxface was beginning to be a bully in the tank. I found the CBB dead in a cave. I believe that they both went in and the CBB couldn't manuever away from the rabbit in the confines of the cave.

Definitely was my first thought, if the client doesn't know what they're looking at. But I was assuming they had the fish for some period of time and would have noticed the scalpel previously as they do stick out from the yellow of the tang anyhow.

So i went to inspect the tank today and all was fine with the tang, he use to run the tank but today he was hiding alot so he must have gotten his but kicked lol but he looks healthy to me.

I think she was/ is so worried about me adding a venomous fish that maybe she was looking for something wrong.
