Radical New technique for division :(

So this post is just me looking for advice or hope where I believe that there is none :(

Yesterday I received a $130 6" ROBTA from Reefer Madness OH my she was purrttty... acclimated her gently and placed her into my 700gal system... I knew that she would eventually get used to the tank and start looking for her mount but I was unprepared for how quickly this would occur... When I came back from lunch she was gone! :( as I looked around I found small chunks of purple flesh lying in the sand... As I looked up and checked the closed loop intakes there she was maybe a quarter sized chunk like a big HOcker stuck on the intake AGGGG! How stupid of me ... when she got happy and inflated she was swept by the waves up into the intake... anyway I pulled that little piece off and threw it in the sink... My wife was upset and said to put it back into the tank... well OK I did.. this morning that little bitty piece is actually inflated with like 4 tentacles out and just a corner of her remaining foot partially attached to a rock.. she is doomed right??? there is no chance that she could recover right? is there anything that you would recommend to try to salvage her?? I really thought that she was already dead... advice would help...

OH BTW just to compound my agony, yesterday I bought an 8" purple Seabae to heal my wounded feelings... I was looking forward to the overnight package this morning ( I turned off the closed loop) Just now when I tracked the package it says,

Delay beyond our control

Its gonna be a day late... do you think it will survive?

AM I not meant to have an anemone?

The RBTA may well survive. Once the open tears heal, you'll need to start feeding small pieces of meaty foods (like krill) several times a week.

The LTA will definitely be stressed, but it can survive. They spend a lot of time in the bag when they are first shipped, so depending on whether it was healthy to begin with, and if it doesn't get too hot, it might be okay. Unfortunately, LTAs are generally more fragile than BTAs.

Good luck with both.

Thank you Kevin :) I just went home and checked and the RBTA is still inflated and holding onto that piece of rock WOW resilient little bugger... Shu Tin had given me a similar prognosis for each of the specimins... Just heard about the reason FedEx was grounded :( supposedly smoke in the cabin and the Anemone still has not been scanned as even moving from PA :( Do you think that mysis and or chopped shrimp will be good or should I start looking for silversides?

Thanks for all your help :)

Chris

Either mysis or chopped shrimp should be fine. If you have no luck with those, then I'd try silversides.

Also, I like to soak my fish (and anemone) food in a small bowl of tank water and Selcon.

FWIW,
Kevin

welll.. the little piece that was inflated and I was so excited would survive had simply disappeared by morning??? I wonder if a hermit just drug it into the rocks???

On a lighter note the anemone that sat on the tarmack for 2 days is actually BEAUTIFUL! it is just gorgeous! still getting used to the tank :) I'll post some pics when it does :)

Thanks for your help everyone

Or it just crawled off into the rocks to heal. Keep your eyes open, you might have an even smaller version of the BTA emerge in a few weeks.

Good luck with the LTA. Glad it got there alive.

Kevin

Well the anemone that sat on the tarmac for 2 days has done awesome :) still no signs of the RBTA :(
