Ragged Fins

This tang belongs to a friend of mine. It looks to me like something is picking on him but I know nothing about tangs. I am trying to narrow down the cause. Could it be a disease? I know he keeps his water chemistry in check and does frequent water changes. Any thoughts?

That is not a happy fish. If there is no predator going at those fins, I'd start suspecting dietary deficiency. These fish will gorge on shrimp and the like, but should not have that for a diet, no more than you'd feed a baby nothing but chocolate: they need predominantly greens: spirulina, nori, and the like---in the case of this fish, nori soaked in Selcon. Also Formula Two, frozen cubes.

What are the other tank mates? Could be some territorial squabbling going on. Water quality and dietary issues can also be a problem.
