Just got back and wow what have you guys been up to?
First of all I did not say "global warming" was causing anything. <b>I said "Ocean warming"</b>. While scientists still may or may not be debating global warming they do not deny that ocean warming is occurring. Secondly I could really care less about trying to teach anyone anything about global warming, my only care is the lifeforms that are affected by such stresses as named or unnamed warming events. I only provided info for those who care to investigate on their own. I will stick to only that which affects our hobby and that which there is no real denial of and plenty of hard evidence, coral reefs are in danger. Our hobby will change and it will change soon if things continue the way they are headed. Small glimmers of hope such as the fact that a few percent of bleached reefs have come back are just that, sparks in a dark cavern. There are many many factors that threaten the survivability of the reefs not just one single controversial one IMO.
And as for the space and punching holes in the atmosphere thing?
Yeh Im not gona even touch that one.

Well, Ron, I wouldnt want the pudding to burn, now would I. It would stick to the bottom of the pot, and be difficult to clean later on.
I think Jason may be blind....but who knows?

Maybe it's an alien terraforming plant, the sun is getting hotter, or the planet has a temperature, or as James Lovelock says. Humans have simply become such an infection that the earth is now trying to burn away the disease in hopes of re-establishing a balance. It does not matter how you swallow the pill, the proof is there that the ocean is warming, natural or not makes little difference, the after effect and how we deal with that impact is what I care about at this point.

Humans are too stupid to just TRY. They have to think up 100 reasons they should, 1000 why they shouldnt, and 100,000 reasons why they should sit back and watch. By the time someone says "DUH, were idoits, we should have done something, so lets make up for it now. Were gonna do sumthin" Its WAY WAY WAY too late. The reefs are nothing but mounds of white bone. The fish are floating on the surface, and were mostly to blame.

I thought that the fish were not as adversly affected, but I get your point, and I agree. Same way with endangered animals. Not like it all happened in the blink of an eye. We should do things to PREVENT animals from becoming endangered, or threatened, instead of waiting for it to happen, then decide to get off our asses...

A coral reef is an ecosystem. Coral reefs are the home of thousands of species of fish and invert. If the reefs die the bio diversity dies off in the area as well. All of this in turn affects other creatures etc, etc until the entire system crashes.

I was RIGHT? Imagine that...
anyway, its like a story I read the other day, this guy went back in time, and traveled off of a special path. He stepped on a butterfly, and then goes back into the future. He eleminated all lifeforms on earth...and as soon as she stepped off the time machiene...he vanished too.
The point is the WHOLE ecosystem will DIE if ONE componet becomes nonexistant. Were literally giving all the animals that depend on the reef a death sentance, IF we dont do anything about it .
Bush, as much as I hate to give him credit for anythng but I gotta give credit where credit is due, took a step in the right direction by making that Mariene reserve.

Has nothing to do with politics or politicians Bginners, in fact politics has severally discredited any serious research into ocean warming or any potential cause there of. This serious matter has been used and misused by both sides irresponsibly to sway the masses in favor of this or that parties agenda IMO. Real science is where my data originates not from political parties.

The major users of diesel are commercial trucks. I believe there are additional taxes on deisel.
