Rant about Petrolum and global warming.

Mary - never heard the Space ship punching holes theory before and thanks for attempting to bail me out with the Nitro Police after the last GB.

Aquawayne - thanks for the Word cut and paste tip. Now if I could get a grammar check. I hate proof reading my own text. I know I hacked up the use of decent and descent on here once.

Since this thread has little to do with reef applications (directly).

Any idea why Diesel fuel is still high?

Just a couple of years ago, we could get off road diesel for about $0.85 for our tractors, when gas and diesel were about $1.50. Now gas is $2.50 per gallon and diesel is still $3. Even off road diesel is nearly as much as 87 octane gas.

It use to sort of make since driving diesel vehicles (particularly large trucks) compared to gas engines, better MPG, same or less cost for fuel. Why is diesel higher now? I thought the process cost were less, anyone?

Okay. Normally I stear far and wide away from these threads because I belive the whole global warming thing is a a big crock of crap..... yes I own an hybrid but I have it because of the gas saving not because of it's lower emmisions ect ect ect not gonna go down that road. When a single volcano can spew out more emissions in a day than an entire contries output for a decade explain to me just exactly how we are doing all this damage?

No lets not go down that road. what I wanna know is where the h*** this quote came from and what the heck is it supposed to mean?????? I would like to see any artical anywhere that makes the space program a contributor to the natural shift in the magnetic poles of the earth?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Ugh now you've done and gone made me wade in on this..... what next.

I think Philjess was telling me what the process I explained in an earlier post was called.

Had nothing to do with the spaceship comment. That was just my opinion of how the holes got into the ozone layer in the first place. (not our hairspray and other areosol products)

I just didn't start a new paragraph. Sorry

I agree w/ Crispa on this.. I don't believe in global warming either... If you look back through the ages through ice samples in the poles, you can see that the avereage temperature rises and falls over time, we are just in that natural upswing... it's happened for thousands of years and it will continue to happen, nothing we can do will alter that.... *Says laughing from comforts of family Hummer which coincidentely gets better gas mileage than Japanese counterpart we traded in for it!*

Wouldn't the rise and fall of temperature be a global warming, and eventually, global cooling? So, the fact that it has happened for thousands of years and that we are in that natural upswing should actually prove that we are in a state of global warming. This all being irreverent to weather we are, or are not, doing this to ourselves. However, the over population in this world, in my opinion, must have some contribution, not to even get into the fact that humans do not take care of the environment in the way it was thousands of years ago.

Hey I have that...*points to little profile sticker thingy that says I support RC on SB's profile.* Im just too lazy to use it, except on posts that could make it seem I am perverted...*Coughmaleseahorecough* If any one actually remembers that post...

The wetlands are not being destroyed by global warming. They are being drained for urban sprawl and development, they are being turned into ports, they are being ruined by chemical pollutants.... a lot of stuff but global warming? Nah.

As odo points out with the ice cores, this is a cycle that will take place with or without human intervention. Also, as I have pointed out in the past, there are settlement ruins in Greenland where they were raising crops and livestock centuries ago in areas that now are completely inhospitable and useless for agriculture. The surface of Mars is getting hotter. Is that due to all those Martian SUVs?

Global warming is poppycock.

I always knew that LGM drove those discarded MoonRovers they hijacked when they were on vacation.

And dont get me started on thoes Greenlanders. All of their cows releasing toxic flatulence into the air. Killing off the ozone layer, and making Greenland all stinky....

I cant wait to see the ice caps melt, and the statue of liberty underwater...I read somewhere that thats how high the water would rise if all of the polar caps melted....better get you swimming suits, flippers, lifejackets, and inflatable floaty chairs!

Seems rather a question of semantics, not science. The earth warms and cools. Civilization has risen since 10000 BC [first urban culture: Jericho: Nile Valley] during a warm spell...interrupted by the Little Ice Age [early Viking Settlement in Greenland to Shakespearean times, roughly] and is still warming. This will go on until the thermohaline conveyor is tripped 'off' by fresh water, which may already be happening due to melting in the northern hemisphere. Whether we get another 'little' ice age or a big one will not be demonstrable until the conveyor retrips. Personally I vote for a little one, but I don't think we get to vote.

We will all be dead before it happens, so no worries. Let the younger generation worry bout it.

So it was the Vikings behind the Toxic Cow Flatulance? I THoUGHT they were behind it!

...and on a happier, rather off topic note. I have become a little less anti-socal since I left...and found me a nice girl who shares my hatred for stupid people and my grandmothers cooking...(my stomach will never be the same...)

Back on topic, what was that regulation thingy that expires 2012....starts wth a K i think....why didnt that become perminant?

I didnt say happier...I just decided to randomly be nice to a cutem gothic-ish chick....~_~ I AM NOT HAPPY !!!!! My allergist says im allergic to happy. As well as some other things... Becides, if it were up to me I would never leave my room, but the law says I have to have some kind of social interaction with these people....

My seahorse tank had a moajor breakout of somekind of algea, not hair though, casue its on my desk....next to a window....I told mom not to put it there BUT NO ONE LISTENS TO ME!!!!!x_x Anyway. Im DEFF. gonna have to bring you all a bunch of leathers....its touching the glass as we speak. I would frag it now, but I would probally cut my fingers off....*curses insomnia*

Semantics? Perhaps. However, when I say "global warming" I am not referring to whether or not the Earth is actually warming or cooling. It may be, it may not be, but it is cyclical anyway so the point is moot.

When I say "global warming" I am referring to the notion that we pathetic humans are burning too much gasoline and farting too much and so are directly responsible for the trend. I don't think so. That sort of thinking is the province of the barking moonbats on the left whose agenda is actually not environmental, but political.

In short, to me global warming is a conspiracy theory of sorts.

Of sorts...yes I agree. Also, I feel that humans contribute, but can not be the total cause of, our environments downfall. I do feel we are making a "dent" in the trend, but it would happen eventually whether we were here or not. IMO, we are helping it to happen quicker. How much quicker? Probably not much. Can we make a difference? Yes. Any change will help. If we teach our children to treat our/their environment with more respect, and they in return, do the same...don't you think it should eventually make a difference? It certainly will not harm. We may fail to make a difference, but if we do not try, then we have already failed.
