Rare fish in London

I stopped by a LFS here in London. Took a few videos of them (sorry for the quality and short length) because, after searching high and low for a way to bring them back legally, I think it's going to be impossible. On that note, if anyone in Phx has a permit to import --- let me know! :)

Here's the fish I'd love to bring home -- A. fimininus:

And, although I can't afford them, they had an juvi interruptus angel, three gem tangs and a mated-pair of Goldflakes (along with a few rare wrasses)! Pretty amazing to see all all of these rare fish in the same store.

The baby interruptus:

These two gem tangs were in side-by-side tanks:

This one was in a different display:

Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool and thought I'd share.

AT's gem tang is about 3x bigger than these guys. I like aquatouch, but the last 3-fish I requested they gave me a, "no, we won't be able to get that for you" response. It's all good. I actually have a wrasse on hold there right now :)

After conversion (and without negotiation), about $2300 for the gems, $1k for the goldflake pair and $5k for the interrupta (the most over priced of them all). The fimininus was the only fish that was significantly below US market rate.

It's OK...I've found the shop and spoken with the owner.

Just need to negotiate on the price..............!

Yes we are....:wildone:

Could you please let me know the name of the shop? I've been waiting for an interuptus to come up for a while.

Thanks.

Haha, just kidding about being stuck-up (not potted!). Sorry I missed this message, I would have given you the name.

Yeah, it was way over market-value in the US. Hope you can negotiate the price though! Let me know if you end up with it.

I think the deal is done. :-)

If ever I'm in Arizona I'll drop by in person to buy you a beer to say thank you.

Would you mind if I posted a link to your video of the fish onto my UK tank thread?

Awesome to hear! I just found out I'll be flying back over to your side of the pond next week so maybe we don't have to wait so long to share a pint!

Oh, and feel free to post away! :)

wow, the power of the internet....

you would think from reading this thread that Zibba and Tangaroa lived down the street from that LFS, not on different continents! :)

Actually, as far as I can tell, Zibba is from the planet Grblnth in the Mugdar system. This is really an interstellar relationship (I've been watching too much Trek lately).

It also demonstrates the power of Reef Central. I'm always amazed at shared interest in the hobby across national boundaries, cultures, races, etc. Gives me a little hope for our third rock from the sun.
