My LFS has a pair of these fish just imported from Indonesia and nobody has a clue what they are! We've checked the web and numerous books to no avail. Pictures attached. Any ID would be most grateful.
Does he have cirri? (eyebrow tufts?)
Little bells are going on saying perch-like...I'm not seeing cirri, and the face is elongate, though the body shape/coloration says dyed blenny. Curious.
Im not too sure about 'rare' just maybe out of the ordinary. Its a weedfish :] Although its not very 'pink' it looks alot like a pink weedfish. Try looking up: Heteroclinus roseus on google images :] May i ask what they are selling for ???
Heteroclinus roseus definitley has the body shape but "rose" is definitely not the colour. The fish in question has green bands with red spots on the dorsal.
cristceps (crested head) australis. The link within the page I cited above has the exact fish. Quite spectacular finnage. I think somewhere it says they'll go after small crustaceans, and I would watch your shrimp...
The common weedfish.
I cant find a picture of the adult coloration of these guys, because that is what your two are, correct ?, considering theyre a pair :]
It is a blenny of the family Clinedae, look up the common name for kelpfish, although in souht FL they use the common name blenny, the temperate ones are called kelpfish.
Well...they know what they paid for it...just add the typical markup. Sounds like someone is greedy. Please post the name and location of the store so those nearby can avoid it.
