Hey i just ordered a rare trigger from my supplier in LA and he wasn't cheep at all but you guy's know i can never say no to rare triggers considering i have already brought sargassums, crosshatchs, and goldbacks. But i just can't seem to find a pic on this trigger so im asking for your help. The name of the trigger is "Spotted west african queen trigger" I do not have a scientific name that's why i am stuck and we all know there are a lot of different common name's for one fish. If anyone has any idea what kind of trigger this is and also has a pic to share please share.

Look at the website for justrarefish.com. They have the fish I believe you are talking about. Untill I saw them there, I'd never seen one for sale before - and my LFS gets all kinds of rare triggers: goldenback, lunula ect.

Is it the golden heart trigger? Go to justrarefish.com and see if the triggers listed in the availablility list is the african trigger you are writting about.

Be careful when people say they have a rare trigger. They may not be rare because they are hard to find but because they are just not good aquarium fish and nobody wants to carry them. I can remember several odd triggers coming into the wholesaler and coming into our shop that I would have never thought I would ever see.

That's what ive been thinking it is. Are there any other kinds of triggers that come from aferica? I guess il have to wait till wed to see what kind it is. The person selling the trigger to me is a close personal friend so i have no worries that he's screwing me just inpatient to know what it looks like lol.

You ordered it but you know nothing about it? That is not the way this hobby is supposed to work and is the surest way to kill something that you don't know how to care for. Don't care how many SW tanks you own it's still pathetic and not smart.

he seems like he has the experience with 60 SW tanks. triggers are not hard to care for.

Lifes a gamble.... for everyone. At least the fish is in the hands of someone who is willing to do whatever they have to to keep this rare fish.

I say good luck and can't wait to see some pics.

Like I said, doesn't matter how many tanks you, I or anyone else has. Not smart.

You know what, you are being no help what so ever so stay out of my threads.

For anyone wondering this fish is going into a 500G tank once it arrives wed. I will also get pic's.

they have them here in LI and they are from$750-$2500. I can give you a link to the post of the pic but dont know how to post it up here...?

did you mention its a fully established 500 with a ton of live rock and has a good amt of flow as well as filtration and the total system volume is about 1100 gallons .

I don't think caring for it will be much of a hard deal as long as we get her eating

Fish Finder I have a question- its way off topic-sorry.
Do you happen to know how to sex the Dragon morays? I have one in QT and its about 20" and huge. I was not expecting it tobe as thick as it is. I am having a hard time finding some one who can tell the difference while they are still young. Thanks-D-

Just to let you know...if you guys have never seen a distributor's fish list it is pretty hard to figure out what a good number of the fish on them are. Even when scientific names are given they can be incorrect often. Knowing that the fish is a trigger of some kind it is fairly easy to generalize what kind of care it will need.

Queen Triggers are a cosmopolitan tropical Atlantic species. Not only are they found in the Carribean and Atlantic Coast of the US, but they are also found on the tropical Atlantic Coast of West Africa ;) Odds are it is nothing more than the typical Queen Trigger from Africa.
