Yes, it is. I waited another year for the right confluence of availability, shipping weather, etc. But so far it isn't fairing much better, with mouth gaping at the moment despite it having a tight mouth in a month+ quarantine at Liveaquaria.

The Gig that I had see which was yellow was about 129.99!Well I guess that I need to get a new store!

Price for Phil is not at all the same as price for the rest of us. I have never seen a Gigantea in person that is less than 120.00 regardless of color. I count my self as lucky if I ever seen a healthy Gigantea regardless of price.

It seems like every thing in MO is VERY pricey!I would like to move to CA and or FL were there is ALOT of stores that have this stuff and were it would be cheaper!

Here is the pic of the yellow carpet i got. You guys are gonna bash me but I got it on Ebay for $25. Going into this I thought it was dyed...but i dont think it is. It is a little bleached but not dyed. It has an outer ring that is white; it also has alot of rogue red coloring tenacles. I have had it for 5 days and already gobled up a shrimp piece. It is really yellow (not green) It has been hiding under this rock but hopefully it will fan out soon. Sorry for the bad pic!

I think you got a S. tapetum. How big is it? Look to me like it is about 3-4 inches or less

Its actually about 6'in diameter. Can you give me info on the tapetum? I think its Haddoni because of the markings. If you look at the first pic post on this thread of the green haddoni it has lines of different color pigment running to its mouth. This guy is just like that. FYI it has a pink/red mouth and a white foot whith blue marks on it.

If it is does the tapetum species host percula or oscellaries?

The outermost tentacles of your anemone are not typical of S. haddoni. Haddoni carpet have smooth column without veracue or spot. The foot is also smooth without spot.

S. tapetum have a variety of color. There are bare veins on the oral disk (surface) of the S. tapetum. The column with bright veracue and foot also have dark spots (red on my anemone). S. tapetum do not get big, about 6 inches is max and hardy but do not host clowns. I need a clearer picture to tell for sure but from what I can see, it is a S. tapetum

Good day gentlemen. Quite a debate about the colour of nems going one here. My few pennies worth - most of the light coloured nems in the trade are bleached. Those that arent are getting there. Nems are usually quite bright as darker colours absorb sunlight better. How many of you have see light coloured nems in the wild? I for one have not seen any. S.gigantea's live in shallow rock tidal pools and are dark in colour. hadoonis live lower and need to be darker to absorb even more light - they only get lighter as they expel their zoo. You can keep them going of course (partially bleached ones that is) by regular feeding - but thats not the way they should be.... as I said, just my few pennies worth. I'll let the debate continue now...

Wouldn't call them rare, someone else on here has a "multicolor" carpet that was featured on the front of reefkeeping one month.

Just curious, are you calling that a yellow anemone?

Just my opinion (no offense), it looks like a brown anemone. Just because I've seen anemones that look like that in person turn a deep brown, after months in captivity.

This was purchased as a true yellow carpet in hopes that really was true (well, that and 'click-too-fast syndrome'). I agree that every yellow I have seen is bleached, including this one.
I personally don't think it wil darken to a nice mustard yellow, but will turn lime green instead. I don't care, as long as it makes it!

nah, not sure what color I would call it. But I would agree about most turning a distinct tan that look about this color - the first one I bought a couple years back was bleached yellow but colored to tan. This one has always been this color....hasn't darkened.

I agree with you Sugar, that looks like it will end up like this one:

I ordered a couple gigs a few months back ago and they ALL have made it. Not that I am complaining....it was just unexpected with how most importers handle them.
