Rasing Salinity

I'm trying to raise the SG in my tank from 1.024 to 1.026. I've been trying to do it for the last couple of days now by turning of my ATO and replacing evaporated water with fresh saltwater that is mixing in my brute can. the SG in the brute can is 1.027. How long does it usually take to raise it? I'm using a Milwaukee digital refractometer. When i take measurement right after I've replaced some water ( i replace the evaporated water along with doing a 3 gallon/day water change) i initially get a reading of 1.025 but a few hours later its back down to 1.024. Am i doing this incorrectly? :worried2:

it depends how big your tank is. If its a big tank then its gonna take a while at 3 gallons a day.

Its a 125 gallon with a 45 gallon sump

I have a 90 and I'm doing the same right now as you. Topped off with saltwater starting yesterday evening. I'm at 1.025 right now. Was at 1.024

Tested today and i am at 1.025 tonight so I'm getting there....just got to be patient i guess!

i used to pour in some salt into my sump a bit at a time.
