To answer the question can RBTA and LTA be in the same tank or even beside each other.

How many clowns do you have in there, and how long have they been together for? As far as the anemones go, it could work but most likely one will sting the other too much.

Keeping an eye on the stinging, but so far so good.

I have the 5 clowns, the 4 you see there and 1 pink skunk.
Trying to catch the yellow one but haven't been successful. It was a critter that came with one of my anemones.

The problem is not so much stinging as allelopathy(sp?) or chemical warfare that you can't see going on. It will not only affect the anemones, but your other corals as well. They don't have to be touching, just in close proximity... like in a tank, together. It's a natural means of competing for space that can wreak havoc in your system.

That being said.. carbon can help keep this in control if you change it regularly. Some people keep mismatched animals in tanks and don't feel it's a problem.. although they might not realize it's happening.

Hope that's helpfull

How long have they been together? That is rare that 3 different species of clowns can live together in a 38 gallon without killing eachother off.

They've been together for several weeks now. The little clarkii is the most aggressive one, haven't been able to get him out. They've really only protect their anemone don't go after each other around the tank.
Maybe it's because they each have an anemone so they don't kill each other, the skunk and clarkii were added last.

Update:
The RBTA closed up and started to move, now its away from the LTA and has opened up nicely.

I totally agree with eeorrandy, prognosis is not good for the long haul. 5 clowns in a 38g, may look cool but do you really think they are happy? There has to be a lot of bickering for territory. I have 2 ocellaris and 2 rbta's in my 37g. I do hope you don't have any problems from the 2 time bombs you got ticking. I wish you luck : )
