RBTA Anemone Moving

I bought a RBTA from the reef hot spot 2 weeks ago.

The anemone keeps moving into any pile of rocks it can find. It has not opened up yet and spends all of its time hiding.

I have tried isolating the anemone on a singe rock in the middle of the tank. But by morning it has moved across the tank and back into a pile of rock.

I am getting concerned that the anemone is going to die. Will it eventually come out on its own. Should I just leave it alone?

I would definitely leave it alone, especially while it's still new. IME anemones respond very poorly to continuous interference...it's best to let them sort themselves out at first.

yeah just leave it alone.....it will be happy the place you want it the least....

mine moved around decided it liked the exact spot where my candy cane was...go figure

For some reason it's unhappy with conditions. You should try to identify the problem. Could be one of a number of things, paramiters, lighting, flow or is something bothering it such as agressive clown. Mine only moved after more than a year in the same spot when it was getting ready to split. I went nuts trying to figure out what was making it unhappy. Happy anemones stay put. If you want further help with the situation give a more details. : )

All of my rank parameters are in good shape

Nitrite 0
Nitrate 6ppm
Ph is 8.0
Temp 80 deg
Sg 1.24
Ammonia 0

My tank is a 60 gal tank. With 4 96 watt PC bulbs. 2x 10k and 2x Actinic.

My lighting cycle is 8 hours

My flow rate is around 1200 gal/h using two tunze power heads which are positioned at the top corners of my tank.

I also just got rid of my 4 year H. Crispa anemone that was more than 14 inches across. That anemone never moved on me in the 4 years that I had it. The only reason that I got rid of it was it had out grown my tank. That is why I got the new RBTA.

I only have two fish in the tank. A royal grama and a true percula clown.

1.24 would be very, very bad...I assume you meant 1.024?

BTA are known to move around a bit before getting settled in. Perhaps it just needs time to find itself a good spot.

My RBTA hasn't moved an inch since I placed it in the tank 2 months ago. Knock on wood. I think once they find their preferred spot as far as flow and light they will stay put.

Mine seems to like moderate flow and light. It has its foot buried in a hole in the rock. When it deflates it can fully dissapear from view.

I would just leave it be and let it settle in as long as everything else with the parameters is in line.
