RBTA Anemone question

Hello,

about a week ago i bought a RBTA. He attached right away and moved around the tank. He settled right in front of my powerhead.

I was under the impression that they didn't like high flow, there he is getting blown left and right.

Now my question is the following;

  1. My Ocellaris clownfish show no interest, is there anything I can do to intice them to take to the RBTA?
  2. The RBTA wakes up with the light, by midday he is fully open, by lights out he's all shriveled up, tiny and closed. Is this normal?

Anemone eats like a champ and his mouth looks solidly closed so I am sure he is not sick in anyway, just curious if them opening in the morning and closing at night is a normal beaviour.

+1 on it being normal behavior for RBTA to close up some at night. With the good lighting you have, you really don't even need to feed weekly. btw, what are you feeding it? Stay away from silversides...Plenty threads here about nems dying shortly after eating silversides. Pix please...!! Good luck!

Thanks all, I don't feed him directly, he catches food when I feed the fish. I have my own recipe I feed the fishes. Its a mix of shrimp, cod, spirulina flake food, squid and pacific cod processed with my food processor and frozen.

Here are some pics of him

FWIW, I don't feed my RBTA's. They catch a little food when I feed the fishes, but I only feed them every other day or so. I started with one the size of yours about 16 months ago. There are now 5 or 6 each about 4 to 5 inches accross each. I do have halides though.

I believe mine started splitting. The FAQ mentions that they split because they are either stressed or happy, how do I determine which of the two he's feeling?

Another question how long do they take to split?
